This weekend Saturday and Sunday August 12 -14 the Sundance Institute brings part of their work to Los Angeles. The event happens at the theater at the Ace Hotel. “Sundance NEXT FEST is a summer festival celebrating film, music, and the renegade spirit of independent artists. This year, six bold new films make their Los Angeles premiere. Each is paired with either a special musical performance that embodies a shared artistic sensibility or a conversation with filmmakers and the luminaries that inspired them.”

What is so important about what the Sundance Film Festival does is difficult to explain to any non-filmmaker, we encourage you to attend a full day so that you can feel the spirit of the art. Those festivals that happen here in Los Angeles ranging from the Los Angeles Film Festival, AFI Film Fest and some of the great smaller region focused film festivals such as the South East European Film Festivals are jewels that should be supported, but there is something different at Sundance, and the best way to see that is to check it out yourself.

Film is one of the most important mediums used to change minds, whether through documentary or narrative story telling; through a full length feature or a short form story, these impactful visual stories always leave a mark.

Because advances in technology have made the possibility for folks to produce their own films, festivals such as this helps these new filmmakers understand the most important component of these works; the story.

Los Angeles is still the Mecca of film, bringing the event here showcases that. This is the best place to network, to refresh your artistic world or just to revive your spirit. See you there!
